D.R. Treating us Right!

Photos from the South

Here are a few shots from 7 months in the Dominican Republic. Colleen was working for the Pan American Health Organisation (the office for the World Health Organisation for the Americas) and Chris worked at Carol Morgan International School.

This is Chris on our usual laundry day at our apartment!

Caving in the DR

The island is made up of coral limestone so there are caves all over the place. Sometimes we felt like we had spent as much time in caves as we did on the beach or visiting waterfalls!
Two whales peaking out at us!

Our guides said we were very lucky, we had a lot of surface activity during our whale watching day on the Samana Pennisula. It is the best place to view humpback whales in the world.

Dominican Vinnie!

Agua Blanca

The highest waterfall on the island, you can only see half of it in this photo.

Making Friends on Pico Duarte

We spent our first Holiday as a married couple in 30 degree sunny weather watching surfers on the beach by our apartment! But during the holidays we also summitted the highest peak in the Caribbean and we visited mangroves, toured by boat and hiked in one of the islands national parks.
The Highest Peak in the Caribbean

Pico Duarte is 3087m high. We took three days to do the road trip with a guide and mule. It was an awesome site to see the whole island from the top at sunrise.

Many of you have probably already seen the rest of our photos, but for those who haven't you'll have to come visit if you want to see more!
